The popular resale platform has altered its size classifications for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update. Online Platforms Response Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration. The company said the new system was more in line with other platforms. They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, which has left users frustrated. Sizing System Updates Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10. The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18. Shopper Experiences One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. A different member, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said. Manual Updates Charlotte Lunn, located in England, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing". "Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she explained. Platform Context The service features exceeding 100 million members, with 18 million British users. It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
