According to new allegations from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a 20-year prison term for trafficking offenses, is allegedly readying a clemency request for review by the Trump administration.

Preferential Handling Claimed at Correctional Facility

House Democrats on the House judiciary committee announced that a whistleblower provided evidence indicating the inmate is preparing the commutation application. Additionally, they mentioned she has been given preferential conditions at the federal prison camp in the Lone Star State.

Representative Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the House judiciary committee, stated in a news release that the prison’s warden was “helping” the convict with copying, printing, and sending documents to support her bid for clemency.

The exact content of the “commutation application” are unclear, the congressman noted.

Alleged Privileges and Special Accommodations

Raskin states that, according to the whistleblower, the prisoner has been receiving “customized” meals that are “personally delivered” to her cell, and the supervisor has individually organized private meetings for her and her visitors.

The visits reportedly involve a “special cordoned-off area” for visitors and a variety of food and drinks for her guests.

Maxwell’s visitors were also allowed to bring computers, which the congressman characterized as an “unprecedented action” given the potential danger and chance of unmonitored communications.

Reportedly on one occasion, when phone lines went down for other inmates, she was provided directions about who she should tell her contacts to call and how personnel would relay the call to her.

Supervisor Acting as Assistant

The whistleblower further reportedly told House Democrats that when Maxwell wanted to review and edit documents “quickly”, she “essentially used” the official as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The news release states that those writing to her would send files directly to the supervisor, who would hand them over to Maxwell, for her to examine and change and return them to the official to digitize and send to the original sender.

Additional Privileges Reported

Other privileges allegedly granted to her include time to “play with” a service dog puppy – a benefit typically prohibited – as well as private after-hours access to the facility's gym.

Maxwell’s attorney did not immediately respond to a inquiry regarding the insider's allegations.

In a statement, the presidential office said that it “does not comment” on possible pardon appeals.

“Per the President's remarks, granting clemency to Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has thought about,” the spokesperson added.

Recent Background

Over the weekend, reports surfaced that she told close associates in electronic messages that she was “much happier” at the Texas facility than her previous prison.

This past summer, she was moved from a low-security prison in Tallahassee, Florida to the less restrictive prison in the state, where most inmates are serving time for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

The transfer, which experts described as exceptional, occurred just days after she was interviewed about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the senior justice official, Todd Blanche, who also once acted as Donald Trump's private attorney.

This questioning came as the administration was facing mounting pressure to disclose additional files related to the ongoing probe and amid intense speculation around the President's own personal ties to the fallen billionaire and adjudicated criminal, who was found dead in a New York jail in that year while facing trial on trafficking accusations.

Lawmaker Reactions

In the news release, Raskin also revealed that he had dispatched a communication to Trump, demanding answers about the whistleblower’s allegations, and called on the president to deny Maxwell’s commutation request.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any form of clemency to this convicted and unrepentant sex offender,” the representative stated in the document. “Your Administration should not be providing her with room service, with canine interaction, with federal law enforcement officials waiting on her every need, or with any preferential handling or institutional privilege at all.”

Raskin requested that the official appear for a public congressional hearing to address the disclosures and also posed three questions to Trump.

Raskin asked whether he had discussed a possible clemency for the convict with the official or others, whether he had instructed Blanche or anyone else to provide her with the transfer or favorable and preferential treatment in prison, and whether Maxwell, her attorneys, family or representatives have made any promises to Trump or his legal team.

Raskin has asked for a reply to the inquiries by 24 November.

Last month, the nation's highest court rejected an appeal from Maxwell on her trafficking verdict.
